Dara Lopez Cook is a native San Diegan who moved to the Bay Area in 2015. She currently is finishing her BFA in Pictorial Arts at San Jose State University, where she focuses primarily on paintings, prints, and installation work. She is heavily influenced by her mother’s Mexican heritage and began creating work based on her family’s history. She has explored and continued past family and has moved onto abstract art that focuses on the process of creating. In her free time, Cook explores the outdoors and creates linoleum blocks depicting the landscapes.
